Stuck?! Sketches! DT - 15th March - The Outback

Welome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

I hope you will feel inspired to join in and be eligible for one of the lovely prizes.

Stash busting is still high on my list for this year, so I've use an ancient Basic Grey paper
for the background, Scarlett's letter.  The patterned papers are also Basic Grey.

The chipboard title is also ancient - it's from Scrap FX
I treated it with Prima Rust paste to reflect the colours of the landscape.

Scrapmatts March - sponsoring CSI

Hello Scrappy friends, welcome back, lovely to have you visit again.
is sponsoring CSI this month and the Scrapmatts team have been invited to Guest design for CSI.  Thank you Debbi Tehrani, your challenges are fun and make me think outside the box.

It’s easy to play along, just use all five colours, at least three of the evidence clues
and at least one of the testimony clues.
I used gesso on the white background before applying texture paste through the diamond stencil and splashing some ink around.
I love the fabric flag from Charms creations
and the Flair is from Funky Flair Studio, it seemed perfect for a pregnancy photo.

The Scrapmatts chipboard circle was wet embossed.

The papers are from Heidi Swapp, "September Skies" and Studio Calico "Wanderlust"

The Title was painted with distress ink and clear embossed
and the heart was randomly dabbed with a water colour wash.

Evidence
Stars, Stitching, Diamond shape, (the texture paste),  Circles (the flairs and the chipboard), Washi tape, Bunting.

Testimony
I chose to journal about Adventure.

It was a hot day when this photo was taken in December, about six weeks before you were born.  Mummy and Daddy were off on another Adventure, not travelling this time, but an adventure into parenting.  I’m sure it will be as exciting, memorable, exhausting and rewarding as any previous holiday. Something they’ve planned and longed for and something which will fill their hearts with love.   I hope you are a calm and happy Baby like your Daddy was and I know you will call them both to their higher selves, as parenting is the most important job they will ever have.  We can’t wait to meet you little one.

The second project I made as a special gift for my DIL.
It's on canvas, because I wanted to use a lot of mixed media.
First I chose a mixture of sprays, acrylic and water colour paints to create
the ombre shading on the background.
The textured effect was achieved by applying crackle paste through one of the new stencils.  ST 9002-A5, before over spraying with mists.
The large circle is String circle was wet embossed.  I liked the symbolism it created.
The butterfly was a gift from my kind friend Marilyn,
when the one I had planned using was just too big.
The flowers are a mixture of older and new products, mostly Prima and K&Co.
I love the heart sprays peeking out from the clusters.
The stamp set is from Ranger, Dina Wakley quotes.
The flair is from Funky Flair studio.

Stuck?! Sketches! DT layout for 1st March - Memories

Welcome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

I chose to scrap these three scallywags, using some paper that I've been saving just for them.  It's from Simple Stories, Posh, "I love life", the reverse side and
"Simply amazing" also the reverse side.
Often the reverse is more appealing to me than the side on display in the rack.
Simple Stories have such interesting ranges for the boys in my life.

I've fallen in love with the fabric embellishments from Charms Creations and may have bought one or two of their goodies.  Love the look of their denim star on this photo.
The enamel dots are from Ruby Rock-it.
The light bulb is also old stash from Prima, junkyard findings.
The bold title is from Scrapmatts.
The little wish bone is very old stash by Tim Holtz - I painted it gold.
Some more old stash used to embellish were the card stock clouds and the orange star.
They are from Simple Stories - Urban traveller

The journalling is on circle, but is a little difficult to read.
If you are interested, this is what it says.

You had all come for a sleepover during the school holidays and I was keen to get a few photos.  Two out of three of you are not so keen; it takes up valuable playing time and is far too boring.   Heaven forbid that little boys should be bored in the holidays!  I vividly recall telling my dear Mother I was bored one Summer holiday and I was quickly dispatched out to the garden for the rest of the afternoon, to weed the vegetable patch.  Strangely enough, I was never, ever, bored again in the holidays!

Kraft+ DT March. That's my Boy

Hello, Hello, it's lovely to have you call in again.
I'm so glad Summer is over and I'm looking forward to relief from this searing heat.
Roll on Autumn, my favourite time of the year.
Today I’m sharing a layout for the
KRAFT+ challenge for March.

There are some brilliant layouts on the Kraft blog to inspire you.
I do hope you will join in the fun and play along.
Great use for those worn out jeans that you don't feel like mending!!
I love the mood board and found it really inspiring.
The challenge is to use Denim somewhere on your page
and to create your project on Kraft, so that the Kraft is the hero.
I chose to scrap about a little Grandson who is a mini version of his Daddy.
The papers are mostly Kaisercraft, from deep within my stash.
The blue paint splashed paper is from the Off the wall collection, “Rad”
I use the reverse side of this too on the little flag under the tab.
The denim tab is from the same collection, "Awesome".
The clock was cut from an old pair of jeans, with a Tim Holtz Bigz die,
“Weathered Clock”.  The metal hands are Tim Holtz game spinners.
I used crackle medium to blend in with the peeling paint on the vintage bike.
I used Kaisercraft, Off the wall collection, alphabet stickers for the title.
The mood board inspired the big stitches.
The yellow stars paper is Technologic collection, “Barcode” by Kaisercraft
The denim tag, I arbitrarily cut off Pa's gardening jeans!  Thanks Pa.
The paper cogs are from Kaisercraft Technologic ESC sticker sheet.
I glued some metal elements on with gel medium.

The journalling is a bit tricky to read, so here it is, if you are interested.

It’s incredible how much like your Daddy you look in these photos. The years roll away as I see you on the vintage bike in our back yard where your Father played.  Perhaps it’s something about your cheeky face and your body perched on the bike, like a Jockey at the starting gate of life.  You share more than just looks; your personalities are similar too.  You have a caring nature, with a warmth and compassion for others.  You love to joke around; to try new things and to be with people. Let your light shine little Boy, the world needs people with your passion for others & for life.  Love Granny June 2013
