82 - CSI challenge Girls Day Out

Here is the bright and beautiful challenge at CSI this week.  You have until 4th August to have a play, if you like the colours and the prompts.

I used some very old Kaisercraft as the base and spruced it up with some Echo Park and My Mind's Eye

Had a play with some watercolour paints and paper to make the little ombre hearts.

I'm not usually stuck for words, but I did have trouble with the journalling prompts this week.

The little nest and some of the flowers are by Prima, mixed with in with some Kaisercraft blooms.

 The two little angels are by Melissa Frances and the punch is from Martha Stewart

I know I say it every week, but the colours are fabulous again....They force me to use combinations I could never dream of.  My vintage photo seemed to be saying "pick me" for this soft palette.

I love the texture from the embossing folders and I finally got to use the Maya Road metal flower that's been sulking in the corner for about 8 years!!

TESTIMONY

I went to the journalling jar prompt and decided to write about my first car.

THE JOURNALLING READS

I started my nursing training about 22 miles across country from my home town.  There was no public transport between the two, so I decided to buy a small car.  This little second hand beauty was advertised and it was love at first sight.  I thought it would be economical and my Father was happy because it had a tiny two stroke motor and a top speed of 47 miles an hour. “Bertha” sulked and refused to start unless covered at night and she backfired if the oil/petrol mix was not quite right. One evening my friend and I were all dolled up in taffeta and stilettos to travel home to a dance. Cough, splutter, wheeze, stop! We hopped out in the mud, lifted the bonnet, cleaned the spark plugs and pushed her to the top of a rise. Then with a clutch start we prayed for a tail wind.  Every mile or so, we had to repeat the process, arriving at the Hall just in time for the last few dances. Over supper my friend took great delight in recounting how she carried my toy car to the dance. Her droll phrase was, “That car has absolutely no power, she wouldn’t pull the skin off a fritz; we spent more time under the bonnet than in the seat”. The price we paid to check out the local talent and dance the night away!   1960

CSI Challenge 80 - Experiment

This challenge had stumped for a while as I could not find the right sized photos, but with a bit of creative editing I made them work.  The palette is more muted after such a bright one last week, but I enjoyed the earthy "boy" colours. But other talented CSI designers used them for elegant girl pages.  Why not pop over and have a look.  You have until July 21st to play along.

The Play stamp is a really old one and the tiny flowers are from an old October Afternoon paper.  The green is My Mind's Eye and the rest is Kaisercraft.   I like they way they all play nicely together.

THE JOURNALLING READS

Time alone is a rare commodity for a little boy with a twin brother and an older sibling.  Maybe that’s why you head straight for the sand pit when you arrive at our home. Pa keeps it covered, so the sand stays dry for your favourite experiment; that is pouring sand through different funnels. You try each size, lifting them to various heights and catch the sand as it pours through at different volumes.  You spend hours there, chattering happily to yourself.  It’s wonderful to see you in a state of bliss, as you experiment with the laws of gravity.  Love Granny

Mixed Media Challenge - 2 Wishing you happiness

I stumbled across this new challenge site and was inspired by the soft colours.  I have a  new batch of photos of our DGD, just perfect for pink, yellow and peach.  It was a good opportunity to practice with some of the stash of paints, mists and textures paste I have tucked away.

You were content to sit in the high chair and eat your lunch, while I took dozens of photos.

You had not lost your innocence about the world; you trusted that all your needs would be met with loving kindness and clear directions.
