59 - CSI Challenge - Happily Ever After

I really struggled with the colours this week.  I had decided on a photo and a general theme, but could not get the red to fit in anywhere.  In the end I tucked some Kaisercraft pearls in the centre of the grey flowers, as well as one tiny red flower and hope that's enough to qualify.

A close up of the troublesome red colour

Curls/flourishes (on the grey paper)

I was inspired by the word Love and chose to use a photo of my Parents in Law which was taken on their 67th Wedding Anniversary.

At first glance, one could be forgiven for thinking these two 90 year olds would have nothing left to say to each other; but their fragile bodies bear no resemblance to their communication skills and the strength of their love.

They shared a passion for education, reading, sport and current affairs.  They believed in the same God and drew comfort from praying together.  They annoyed each other occasionally, but never to the point of raising voices or letting the sun go down on their anger.

After a lifetime of tears and laughter, sickness and health, they still found ways to nurture and affirm each other. A touch, a smile, a kiss, was as natural to them as breathing. Frank often said proudly “Isn’t she beautiful? More beautiful now than the day I married her”. Her radiant smile in response, would light up the room.

They sometimes rested their weary bones on their bed in the afternoon.  Holding hands, they recited poetry from memory, or sang some of their favourite songs from the thirties and forties.

They raised four sons and a daughter, all of whom are dedicated to their own families and relationships. I am awed by the enormity of their love, which transcended all difficulties and warmed their frail bodies, long after passion had died. They welcomed me into their lives and I continue to be enriched by their legacy.
