Happy

I’ve been a long term fan of Laura Whitaker's sketches over at Stuck?! and have just joined the team. How exciting - thanks for the opportunity Laura.

This is a favourite photo of our oldest Grandchild when he was just one year.

Isn’t he the cutest thing?

I used the 1st August sketch.

We were in Bali for a special wedding so the Carta Bella collection “Yacht club” was perfect
for a tropical holiday photo.

Some texture paste through Scrapmatts ST1037 Stencil Bling

Love the new words from Scrapmatts CB6115 Assorted Words 28 - left untreated.

Journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

You are our first Grandchild and very precious. We were on a family holiday in Asia, to celebrate your Mummy and Daddy's wedding. This was a week later; you had a cold and were feeling a bit miserable, but despite that, you still had lots of smiles for Granny and Pa, as we ate lunch. It was so hot and humid in Bali - I can see your hair is damp with perspiration. Don't you look cute in your Bond's red singlet? You had a green and a blue one as well.

Perfect for hot summery days in Bali.

Always - More than Words Challenge September

Welcome to my Blog, a work in progress after a problem with self duplicating side bars.

I’m sharing a layout for the More than Words September challenge.

I'm liaising with Blogger to fix the problem, but just couldn’t resist the recipe challenge.

The look of delight on my Grandchildren's faces, when they spot a plate of Biscotti, was what inspired this page.

I used Blue Fern paper, Montage collection, “Mercantile” as the background and fussy cut elements from the reverse side of another sheet of the same paper.

This is the sketch I used, flipped upside down, it's from Scrapping Clearly.

Then I added a bit of Whipped Spackle with a Tim Holtz flourish stencil.

My Biscotti recipe has been baked hundreds of times in my kitchen; it’s my most requested recipe and happily inhaled by Grandchildren and adults alike. When I ask "What can I bring", it's always,"Can you make a batch of Biscotti please'?

The first time I tasted one of these crispy little morsels, I was at a craft fair and I harassed, begged, my friend until she revealed her secret! I kid myself that they are not too unhealthy and give myself permission to have more than one! The photograph was taken on my Great Aunt Agnes’ antique plate. It’s one of my special treasures.

Fun Today - Kraft+ September challenge

Welcome to my blog on this gorgeous Spring day,
I have a page to share for the Kraft+ September challenge.

The photos are less than perfect, but they record an enjoyable part of our activity when our darling Grand daughter comes to spend the day.

The background was created with gesso and a brayer, when that was dry, I layered the patterned paper panel. It is from Pink Paisley, Cedar Lane collection, "5th Avenue"

This is the sketch I used. It's from Laura Witaker over at Stuck?! sketches

I punched the strips with Martha Stewart's "Doily Lace"
The baking embellies came from the deep recesses of my stash, where they've been sulking for at least a decade!

They are from Melissa Frances "Retro Bake a Cake pack"
When they came out to play, they brought some Basic Grey Brads with them. Just the thing.

Lovin' to new word chippies from Scrapmatts, CB6116 Assorted Words 29 and the flowers CB1022 Flowers 02. I sprayed them with glimmer mists and topped them with Dimensional magic for extra shine and dimension.

The Flairs are from Studio Fourteen 40.

The journalling is on the front this time on strips, now I remember why I stopped doing that - sooo hard to get straight.

The journalling reads:-

One of the favourite things we do together is baking. You especially like to make Apple and Banana muffins because there is not too long to wait until you can get them into your mouth!

You enjoy sifting the flour and licking out the bowl (of course), but most of all, you like packing up the muffins to take home and share with your family. Nanna Neumann would be thrilled to see you learning to bake, while wearing an apron which I sewed for you from some of her fabric stash.
Miss you Mum.

Remember the Moments and Father's day card

Hello there, it’s Helen with you today with my September post for Scrapmatts. It’s lovely to see the trees in bud, some warmer days and sunshine.

I created the layout using a sketch from Stuck? sketchesm with kind permission from Laura Whitaker, the designer.
I rotated the sketch 45 degrees to better suit the portrait photo.

The papers are from an older Kaisercraft collection called “Pitter patter”
I treated the white card stock with clear gesso so I could add lots of texture and paint.

The frame is CB5138 String circles 02. It wasn't quite big enough to do what I wanted, so I cut it, dampened it and stretched it out. Worked a treat!

I used Whipped Spackle texture paste through the ST1002 Stencil Diamonds and swished a bit of water colour paint over the top, allowing it flow out onto the page.

The title words are CB4061 Assorted Words 17
The words were painted, then heat embossed.

The journalling is on the back of the layout and it reads:-

This picture was taken when you were 3 months old. At such a young age you seemed to like the attention that comes with having your photo taken. Your bright eyes didn’t miss a trick and you kicked away happily on your rug. I wonder what the future holds for you, in this century, when rapid advances in technology change the way we interact with our friends and family. I hope that you will always know how much you are loved.

In the words of Bob Dylan:-

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung

May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

My next project is:-
A Father’s day easel card using Scrapmatts

CB 1017 Keys 01
CB1239 Scrap words 25ß
CB5036 Kites 01
CB5127 Diamond mesh 03 (the left over skeleton pieces)

The Mesh was left untreated.
The papers are older Maja scraps.

I treated the kite with gesso and distress inks. I like the way the ink clumped into little beads.

The key was altered with gesso and rusting paste to create the aged look.
The words were ready to go - no treatment needed.

I hope you've enjoyed your look around today.

Feel free to leave a comment and why not upload your projects to the GALLERY

We'd love to see how you use the beautiful SCRAPMATTS products.

Until next time - Happy Scrapping.
