Sympathy cards

Welcome back to my blog on this cold day, it's only 10C as I type this
and I'm longing for Spring to arrive.

I've been experimenting again with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides and some under utilized stamps, to create a couple of Sympathy cards.   I'm not confident about what's appropriate when making cards for this occasion, but do like to use colour.
See what you think.
For this one, I used a Stampin' Up set "Thoughts and Prayers 1 of 2"
The inks are Fossilzed Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint.
And for this one, the Gum Tree is from Darkroom Door, "Gum Trees".
The inks are, Vintage Photo, Wilted Violet, Faded Jeans and Worn Lipstick.

Thanks for your visit, I'd love to know your go to theme for Sympathy cards.

  1. Wow!! These two cards are absolutely stunning Helen!! I love the colours .. simply gorgeous and trees always make me feel calm and at peace so, for me, they are totally appropriate. I also find sympathy cards difficult to do because, like you, am never sure of what is appropriate either but I tend to go for muted colours. After seeing these cards of yours though, I may have to change that idea. The backgrounds you have created here are simply awesome. Your first card, being bright and beautiful signifies, to me, the celebration of a life, and the second, being more muted is very comforting. Both cards are clean, simple and absolutely perfect!! hugs xx

  2. These cards are lovely, Love the trees and amazing backgrounds too.. and to be honest, I have not ever made a sympathy card.. I think something that is simple on the outside and a sentiment of love and care on the inside would be what I would use.. These look very good Helen..

  3. Beautiful work, Helen, & perfect sympathy cards! I often use one of my tree images & always keep them simple--often using green. I really like that your backgrounds have multiple colors & interest without being "showy" or overwhelming.

  9. I can't believe it has been so long since I last visited but then I have been on any form of social media much. No interest and more importantly no time. Things have been so hectic here. Finally calming I hope so I have some time and I so enjoy your projects. Beautiful cards. Love the colours and the stamp. Gentle cards.
