I chose to use the inspiration word - Outdoors for my journalling, which reads:-
One sunny afternoon, a massive rotting wine barrel and a root bound weeping maple provided an opportunity for little boys to learn how to re-pot a tree. No matter that more dirt went around the barrel than in it. No matter that the job took twice as long with the helpers than without. At the end of the day we had four dirty workers and children who know how to trim the roots of a tree. They know how to tease out the roots of new annuals and how to water them in. Best of all, they know how to learn by doing and by making mistakes. They feel confident to try things, safely sheltered in the warmth of their Daddy and Grandfather’s approval, because we are growing children as well as a garden. Love Granny 29th June 2014
awww Helen the photo's are so cute of your grandchildren and you have scrapped them beautifully. Great colour scheme and as always loved reading your journalling. Seriously cute :)
ReplyDeleteOh gardening is good fun for kids, and who cares about how long it takes, wonderful memories have been made and scrapped here! Lovely layout!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I soooo know what you're saying - it's fabulous how they can learn by doing & make a wonderful messy fun time of it as well!! LOOOOVE that tape masking thing you've done....& the title is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous layout that shows the strong bond that you have with your grandies. How wonderful for them to have such patient and wise teachers. They must have had a ball. I know I would have. The photos are such fun (I think this is the first layout that I have seen with photos of the THREE brothers together) the paper is a perfect background and that stencil is a lovely touch. I love the clean lines of this layout and the way that the arrows pop... as always it is your words that gave me pause for thought.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes get really overwhelmed with my too. There are so many things I want to do with them even now but I am so exhausted by the time they go home I think I have forgotten half the things. It is a double edged sword. I know it will be easier when they are a bit bigger - just different trials :D You are so wise Helen and I am so glad that I get to learn from you too. Thank you for being such a support. I really really appreciate it. xox
Oh Helen, this is such a heartwarming page. The love you feel for your grandies simply shines and isn't it such fun to teach them the important things in life. To some learning to trim tree roots may not be much but for them to feel the earth running through their little fingers and to touch the living roots of a tree ... priceless!! This page is gorgeous in more ways than one. Love the colours and the textures but most of all I love those precious photos! What awesome memories to recall for them when they are older! Like I said ... priceless!! Am totally in love with this!! ox
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute page - love your stories of playing with your grandkids! They are sooo much fun! Fabulous work!

ReplyDeleteYou cracked this case perfectly.... A great collection of photos to tell your story and fabulous journaling as always... Your grandies are going to have the most amazing keepsake albums....they are so lucky to have such a talented gran to do this for them....Such special times and wonderful memories.. Thanks for sharing! x
ReplyDeleteWonderful page Helen, it has such a warm and happy feel to it - I love the details like that textured tape measure stencil and your little story is so sweet, how lovely your pages will be to look pack on in years to come :o)
ReplyDeletesuper fun and creative page, love your take on the sketch and challenge :)
ReplyDeleteI love how the photos take center stage!! This is so beautifully scrapped!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your take on this sketch. I also love your clean and neat lines.
ReplyDeleteMy heart just warms up reading your journalling, can so picture it all in my mind! it's these things that your grandies will remember and treasure when they are grown up men. My version of helping out in the garden, was to help mummy bake and then wait all those hours for dad to come home from work and with great pride show him what I had made.Perfect CAS page as always! love that TH tape measure stencil and all the arrows. xoxo
