Beautiful Memories - Scrap Africa DT Sketch 31

Today I'm sharing my take on a sketch by the talented
Denise van der Venter of
SCRAP AFRICA
I hope you will have time to click on the link at see what the gifted
Guest Designers as well at the regular DT have created to inspire you.

So how about you? We would really love to see what you create!
As always we have some goodies up for grabs.
Firstly, is a super voucher from PPBN Designs
and also  a Bo Bunny surprise pack donated by Denise

Just use the sketch with any colour you like, flip it, rotate it,
but show us how you use it in your own way.

You have until 14th July to get your entries in.

Recently I bought this paper from the Simple Stories range
because I wanted to scrap these photos of me as bridesmaid for my Auntie Joan.
She was happy for me to design and choose the colour of my frock.
It was gold satin with matching gold satin shoes
and I felt like a million dollars.
The flowers are mostly from Prima
The vase of flowers is from Simple Stories
A few die cuts as frames and foliage
and it was all done quite quickly. (a rare thing for me)

Journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

I was thrilled when Auntie Joan, one of my Mother's youngest sisters,
invited me to be her bridesmaid.  I was studying to be a Nurse,
partly because I admired my Aunt, who was a Triple Certificated Sister.
She was a free thinking,
independant woman, one who made her own decisions,
drove her own car and lead a sophisticated life style.
All of these things appealed to me, as a young girl,
growing up in a small country town,
where women didn't seem to have a lot of options.
The wedding took place in a Cathedral, so it was all very grand
and for the first time in my life, I felt like an adult.

  7. I can relate to this, my mothers older sister was my role model, also a free thinking, independent and not to mention glamourous woman whom I adored. I love your outfit you look a million dollars and either you are a pretty tall lady or your aunt was tiny :) love the colour on the black. Soft and feminine with a touch of whimsy. Another knock out layout Helen.
