CSI Challenge - 81 Goggomobil

I know I say it every week, but the colours are fabulous again....They force me to use combinations I could never dream of.  My vintage photo seemed to be saying "pick me" for this soft palette.
Why not pop over to CSI and have a look at some of the Art work by the Design Team.  You have until July 28 American time to play.

I love the texture from the embossing folders and I finally got to use the Maya Road metal flower that's been sulking in the corner for about 8 years!!

EVIDENCE
Silver metal - the sides and base of the flower
Jute - ribbon
Scalloped edges
Woodgrain - embossed on yellow cardstock
Circles - embossed on blue cardstock
Textured paper - embossed

TESTIMONY
I went to the journalling jar prompt and decided to write about my first car.

THE JOURNALLING READS
I started my nursing training about 22 miles across country from my home town.  There was no public transport between the two, so I decided to buy a small car.  This little second hand beauty was advertised and it was love at first sight.  I thought it would be economical and my Father was happy because it had a tiny two stroke motor and a top speed of 47 miles an hour. “Bertha” sulked and refused to start unless covered at night and she backfired if the oil/petrol mix was not quite right. One evening my friend and I were all dolled up in taffeta and stilettos to travel home to a dance. Cough, splutter, wheeze, stop! We hopped out in the mud, lifted the bonnet, cleaned the spark plugs and pushed her to the top of a rise. Then with a clutch start we prayed for a tail wind.  Every mile or so, we had to repeat the process, arriving at the Hall just in time for the last few dances. Over supper my friend took great delight in recounting how she carried my toy car to the dance. Her droll phrase was, “That car has absolutely no power, she wouldn’t pull the skin off a fritz; we spent more time under the bonnet than in the seat”. The price we paid to check out the local talent and dance the night away!   1960

  5. Another wonderful layout Helen. Just love this story and I can just see you girls in your finery pushing and cussing poor Bertha :D :D having been in similar situations I just have to laugh. I cant imagine the young girls of today seeing the funny side of this... even years later. Your layout is wonderful and I love the misting and the roller stamp around the edges.... but the advert for your car is my fave part.... :D well that is after the story of course... :D

  6. Great page Helen and love the styling on your page! Goggomobil made me laugh as we have a word here in Afrikaans - Gogga, which means insect...and we as children used to call these old cars with the little lights that look like eyes..GoggaCars! So this is just the perfect GoggaCar! Love the embossing and stamping on your page...and that sweet "almost forgotten" yellow daisy!

  9. What a brilliant memory, made me smile so much .... and the Goggomobile - reminds me of an add on television a few years back (probably a fair way back when I think about it). Brilliant LO, and I really must get a printer that takes 12" paper, as your journaling is sooooooo cool!!! thanks for the wonderful inspiration Helen.
