Hello Scrappy Friends, welcome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT layout for
Scrap the Boys.
The challenge is to use this sketch to scrap about the boy/s (of any age) in your life,
using stitching on your layout. It can be machine or hand sewn.

I chose to use machine stitching on this Cricket page.
The background paper is an oldie from my stash Basic Grey, Archaic Collection.
To create the cricket ground, I used Blue Fern chipboard, Beaded Strings
which I coated with white gesso.
The cricketer is a chipboard piece from
Scrapmatts.

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-
One day last year, we came to watch you play cricket for the school and were thrilled to see you slamming bat on ball and scoring runs for your team. You'd been practicing your bowling in the lead up to the season and had developed a wily leg spin which managed to trick some of the opposition players into exposing their leg stump. Unfortunately, your elderly relatives got so involved in the run rate that we yelled run! run! We shouldn't have because we managed to get you run out. We felt so sorry, as you'd been batting beautifully. You took it with good grace, like a Sportsman, but I could see the disappointment on your face. Love Granny, 18 November 2017
I hope you will feel inspired to play along and be eligible for a prize.
I appreciate your kind comments and so enjoy reading them. Thank you.
This looks fantastic, I love the circle frame around your photo and I am assuming they are the positions in cricket that you have mentioned??? ( I dont follow cricket so I am guessing!!!) a lovely photo and story to go with it...
ReplyDeleteWow!! This is brilliant Helen!! I love how you've used the stitched lines to show the names of all the different hits?? knocks?? Not a cricket fan, as you can tell, but I love how you've set this page up .. it looks fantastic. Amazing design!! Have a great weekend!! hugs xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute page of your grandie! Great design and great photo! ;-) Love the journalling too...shame man!!!
ReplyDeleteGenius! You are so creative, Helen--this is fabulous! I know nothing about Cricket, but still had to chuckle at the journalling!
ReplyDeletePS--the antique plate I photograph some of my cards on belonged to my grandmother. I never use it for food, so it's fun to enjoy it this way with my crafting.
Such a super cool page, very clever with the stitching too! Xx
ReplyDeleteI always admire your boy pages most. This one is so perfect for the sporty pic. What a gorgeous circle element. Big hugs, Autumn
ReplyDeleteThat looks so cool Helen, I love the stitching against that paper and all the crickety words (though I have no idea what they mean!) and that's a very clever way to use the chipboard piece to show the cricket ball. I enjoyed your journalling too - bless him! :o)
