Kraft+ DT post - August 2017 Tree

Hello again Scrappy Friends, welcome to August where today I'm sharing a DT post for
KRAFT+

The challenge is to scrap about a tree, it can be a special tree to you, or trees in general.  
Be inspired by the mood board and let your imagination run free.

I chose to use a photo of a favourite tree of mine.  It's in the Flinders Ranges and it's called the Cazneaux tree. The photographer is Jacqui Barker from Port Lincoln.  I purchased the image and she has graciously given permission for me to use it on this page.

I extended the landscape by painting with Tim Holtz oxide distress inks.

The journalling is on the back and it reads:-

My early years were spend on a farm in the mid North of South Australia and I relished the space, freedom and quiet which surrounded me.  Although this tree is not one I climbed as a child, it's majesty reminds me so much of the avenue of gums which lined the track from the main road to our farm house.  One particular grand old lady was my favourite; I'd clamber up, with an apron full of fruit and my big Sister's Golliwog, to wait for her to come home from school.  Our neighbour used to bring her to the beginning of our track with a pony and trap.

One day when I was about four, I was in deep trouble with Mum.  I can't remember what I'd done to cause her ire, but when she said, "Just wait until your Father gets home" I decided that nothing good would happen to me when he arrived and I'd better run away.  I shimmied up the tree and waited, and waited and waited, for at least 20 hours before I heard the old buckboard wheezing up the track.  No one called my name, no one came looking for me and  it started to get dark.  My stomach was rumbling as I tentatively slid down the trunk and snuck toward the lobby.  I slunk inside, expecting the strap to appear. "Where have you been?" asked Dad.  "I ran away because you were coming home to get cranky at me."  With a tiny glint in his eye, he said "Well I think you've punished yourself enough - you'd better hop up and eat your tea".   What an anti-climax!

Stuck?! Sketches DT - 15 July 2017 - Beautiful Memories

Welome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

I've used Cocoa Vanilla papers, the Wild at Heart collection.

The flair is from Funky Flairs.

I used a Martha Stewart punch "Vintage Floral", to create the pale green trim.

The gold washi tape is from my stash.

The lacy flower is from a Paper Flourish kit.

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads.

This photo was taken on your first visit to Granny and Pa's and it was just a delight to have you stay for a few days.  Skyping and face time help us to keep in touch when you live in another state, but there is nothing like a real time cuddle to generate feelings of love and joy.  You are starting to smile readily and are happy to be passed from one to another without fretting.  Your little cousins were fascinated with you and all wanted to have a nurse.

The days flew by too quickly and soon you were on your way back home.

Scrapmatts July creating with Helen ATC's

Stuck?! Sketches! DT 1st July - Today is a happy day

Welcome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

Stuck?! Sketches! 

Brrrr! it's Winter here in Australia and getting crisp at night, but the days are glorious with pots of pansies smiling in the sunshine on the back verandah.

I hope you will feel inspired to join in and be eligible for one of the lovely prizes.

Still stash busting in my craft room, I chose some ancient WeRMemory Keepers green paper for the border.  By gutting the middle, I had enough to make the title too.

 The background paper, is from Jillibean Soup, Chit Chit Chowder.
The Charms embellishments are delightful to work with.  I chose an X and an O - they just happen to be the initials of these two kidlets, but they work equally well as a kiss and a hug, 
which luckily they still allow from Grandparents.

The flairs are from A piece of cake design.  The puffy stars are from Freckled Fawn 

and the enamel dots are from Teresa Collins.

The journalling is on the back and it reads:-

When you came for a sleepover in the holidays, I had a few inside things planned in case it rained all day, which it did.  So we made corner book marks, quite a few in fact, because you all wanted what the others had made.  We had dogs, cats, koalas and lions, all jostling for position on the craft table.  You enjoy using the scissors, the glue and the punches to make the googly eyes.  Some of you are organised and put your completed projects on the traymobile near the front door and others get distracted by the next project and then there is a great kerfuffle at home time when your things are missing in action.

Kraft+ DT July - Memories

Hello again Scrappy Friends, welcome, today I'm sharing a post for 

Kraft+

So, for this challenge you must use roses on your creation...but in three different ways!
eg.: stamp of a rose, a stencil of a rose and a photo of a rose
or you may choose to use
a rose flair, washi tape with a rose pattern and a rose flower embellishment.
using any medium you like and any combination you like or any embellishment you like.. but there must be roses used Three DIFFERENT WAYS on your creation .
**Please let us know the three different ways you used roses when you upload your entry. 

I've used Fussy cut roses, a background of roses, a rose stencil and rose chipboard.

The pretty papers are from Kaisercraft, the High Tea collection. 

The background paper is "Tea leaves"

The fussy cut roses are from "Devonshire"

The stencil is by Tim Holtz THS075. 

I used acrylic paints on the gorgeous rose frame from Scrapmatts. 

I've tried a different medium through the stencil - It's from Liquitex, flexible modeling paste. It's so smooth and creamy and glides on beautifully.

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

This photo is of my Maternal Grandmother, Catherine Harriet.  I only knew her as an older woman and then not intimately, as she died of Breast Cancer, when I was eight years old.

She was born in 1884 and was a Dressmaker by trade.  She married a farmer, William Ryan, at Undayla, near Auburn, South Australia, in 1912. 

They had nine children. The oldest living child, was my Mother. Sadly their first born child James, died at 3 years of age from diarrhoea after eating green grapes. 

With all those mouths to feed it was a frugal existence; they ate what they grew, or traded with the neighbours if they had an excess of something seasonal.  

I can't imagine how exhausted she must have felt preparing meals, washing and ironing by hand, sewing and mending clothes, supervising homework, feeding babies, changing nappies, growing vegetables, milking the cow, feeding the chooks; all without running water, 

electricity or any appliances.  

My Mother told me they had rammed earth floors with rag rugs scattered about to keep out the cold and slept three children top to toe in a single bed.  If you were last one in, you got the squishy spot in the middle next to the other two kid's toes.  Along with many others of that era, Grandmother were made do with very little.

I often think of her, if I'm tempted to get grumpy when the power goes off, 

or our electricity or water bills are too high. 

Catherine would be amazed at the totally different world that her descendants live in.
