Reach for the sky - CSI 119 - DT

As I have three Grandsons,
I often use the colours of the challenge today 119 at CSI.
But the DT have very disparate takes on the colours.
to see all the different styles.
I'd love to see you join the challenge and share your creativity.
I'm still trying to use up old stash and a search revealed
Three Bugs in a rug, "Ribbit"the spotty green border
and Kaisercraft Peachy Keen, " "Neat" the teal background.
The patterned circles are Kaisercraft, Photo Friendly "Spirograph"
Always a good feeling to make inroads into the stash!
I freshened the look with some new papers.
The cloud and kite were cut from Simple Stories, Fresh Air, "Elements"
The wooden plane is from Studio Calico
Tiny chippy Alphas from Imaginarium
Green alphas from LillyBee design
And a yummy flair from Studio Fourteen 40
The metal key with wings is from Paper Flourish, my LSS
The bicycle paper is a remnant of Websters
The tag is Crate Paper, is reasonably new, Market heirloom
A little globe, cut from a Cuttlebug die
Super fun arrow from Heidi Swapp
A bit of misting through a Mr Hueys stencil and voila

Wood - tiny plane on the cloud

I used the words bright and journey - the journalling is on the back and it reads:-
I rescued this old rocking horse from the local men’s shed where they had been using it as a template for new toys.  They had left it out to go to the dump, so I brought it home and cleaned it up, ready for a new lease of life on the back verandah.

As soon as you saw it, you dashed in to get Puppy, (your cuddly toy), to take him for a ride.  You are mostly bright and love to laugh; ready to tackle any new adventure.

No matter where your travels take you and what you experience as you reach for the sky, I hope you will always remember the happy times you spent with us. You bring light, love and laughter into our lives and we are delighted that you choose to spend time with us.  Love Granny April 2014

  1. I love this layout - the colours work so well together and there are lots of little details but the page still has a clean and simple look. Margaret

  2. We are good at getting fab shots of our Grandies to scrap, aren't we??? But you've got a bit more choice than me ...well, atm anyways!!! This is super cute...looove that key & that corner cluster with the cloud. Delish!!! Have you joined in with the My Details class? I've been doing it myself - it's super fun...I'm really enjoying it!!!

  3. Oh loving this layout - I love the punch across the top (and I have it too). The colors worked so well on this and your page is just fabulous!

  4. Perfect punchwork at the top! LOVE that little cloud with the title, how cute is that little itty bitty plane! Always love your elegant balance and design Helen, this is another little gem! xoxo

  5. This is fabulous Helen....Love the story you have told....reminds me of my Dad bringing home something for the grandies that was headed for the dump . I to am working my way through my rather large stash of old does feel good to be using them up. Love the punched strip across the many delish elements on here,,,the kite, cloud, plane, globe, flair, key and the happy photo just shines brightly... Love this!!

  6. This lovely comment was left by Patty, but for some reason didn't "stick" here. Thank you Patty
Helen, what a lovely layout! Your design is simple, yet effective, and has such boyish charm, just like the subject. What a cutie your little grandson is! I always love to see LO's that have some stitching on them and that border punch work is divine.

BTW....Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. It was such a treat to read your comments. ....Patty

  7. with grandchildren just never get old. Beautiful page Helen.

  8. This is gorgeous Helen and really love the styling and design here! That top punched border is so very cute....and then the gorgeous papers and super, sweet photo are just perfect! Your grandson surely looks chuffed at this rocking horse! My Dad was also one to bring home things from the dump, whether for the house or us kids...and was the ultimate mender and restorer! ;-)

  9. Ah Helen, first of all I have to way to go on using up your stash....I have been trying to do that too... trouble is the stuff is coming in faster than it is going out... I really admire people who can mix brands and it looks like it was meant to be... I am so anal I want to just use ranges that go together... I have loads of quirks... seriously....
This layout is fabulous. I love the papers and that is the cutest photo ever. What a beautiful save from the dump. WOW!.. lucky grandies... I agree with you how wonderful that they want to spend time with you :D Gorgeous work and journalling as always...
BTW my parcel still hasn't arrived from Svetlana... as soon as it does I will post your stamps to you. Hopefully they will get to you quicker... I have never had a problem with the post before... this is very worrying....:( Have a wonderful day?/night? xox

  10. SO gorgeous, and I love all the different circle elements behind that cute photo. I can imagine a grandchild is very special and I am very much looking forward to the time when I hopefully will have some too :-)

  11. This is gorgeous Helen! Don't you just love it when you use up old stash? I've been working on that too. I found that culling two boxes of it helped too though!

  12. Lovely layout Helen, the papers don't look old but fresh and fabulous for your layout! Cute photo too!

  13. wonderful page, the papers look great together and the photo priceless :)
