Elegant - August sketch from Scrap Africa

Hello all my scrappy friends.
I’ve finally found some time to scrap
and was inspired by Denise Van Deventer’s great sketch at
I’ve been waiting for just the right opportunity to do justice
to the vintage photo,
which was taken at another Aunt’s wedding.
I love the sweet bonnet worn by my Sister
and the smart, tailored look of my Aunt’s clothes.
My Mother made all the clothes, including the bonnet and hat.
I choose some Kraft card stock to suit the muted photo.
The black and white blooms were cut from some wrapping paper
and the stencil is from Tim Holtz.
The black frame is from Manor House.
It won't be so long before the next post
as I have been challenged by the August current Kraft+ theme.

Anyways, apart from the great doodle drawing....that soft purple with it all. WONDERFUL choice [yes, I know, it IS purple....but even so......!!!]...& the little touch of bg stencil work. Oh, Helen. I am sooooo happy I can come by and oooh and aaaah again:) Keep 'em coming!!!

  10. Such a elegant layout and love the photo. Ladies had so much style back then. How wonderful that your Mum made all the clothes and now this is documented for future generations. Your Mum must have been very talented.

  13. Helen this is just lovely and you have the gesso and mist down to a fine art. Love the colours and the photo is just lovely. My gran used to do all the sewing for all of us and she made beautiful things. A lost talent I think :D Not one I inherited that is for sure. Precious memories.
