Welome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for
If you haven't played along before, Laura creates two wonderful sketches per
month and there are great prizes on offer. Details below.
I've used Maja Papers on an ivory background.
This is one of my favourite photos of my Husband - a tribute to him,
as we celebrate our Wedding Anniversary is this month.
Because Scrapmatts are one of the sponsors this month, I've used three of their
lovely chipboard pieces and one of their new stencils.
The tag behind the photo is chipboard which I covered with paper and cut in half
to show it the top and bottom. I love the cream on cream
look of texture paste through the lattice stencils.
Do you see the little fabric tab tucked in at the top?
It's from Charms creations, one of our regular sponsors.
I replaced the star shape on the sketch with this marvellous frame from Scrapmatts.
The grungy look was achieved with crackle paint,
embossing powder, Stampendous "Aged Marine" and various distress inks.
The Scrapmatts Timeless Memories title needed no treatment,
it teamed perfectly with the cream in the papers.
I was tempted to splash some blue paint around over the stencilling, but I forced myself to leave well enough alone. Often when I try to add a little dab of this, or a tiny dob of that, I take it one step too far and it all ends in tears! Does that happen to you?
Scrapmatts products used :-
We have two generous sponsors for this challenge.
Scrapmatts are donating two large pieces of chipboard.
and The Scraproom is donating a $20.00 Gift Certificate
I enjoy reading your comments and appreciate you leaving them. Thank you.

What a wonderful photo which you've showcased perfectly, Helen! I adore the stenciling & am in awe of how you put all the elements together--not an easy sketch to me! Love that the photo remains the focus & isn't overtaken by the elements! Happy, happy anniversary to you & your hubby!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tribute to you DH and Happy Anniversary to you both!! I love the stenciling Helen. The white on white looks fabulous and I adore that little fabric tag .. awesome!! Fabulous photo of your dear hubby and I adore this page. Enjoy what's left of the week Helen! hugs xx
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely Helen, such a beautiful take on the sketch, love all the blue colors and the chippies you have used look wonderful, a special tribute to your man! A fav for sure! Love the stencil on the background too... And yes I often have those ... Will I or won't I? Moments before I declare the layout complete!!! Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteFab photo... I thought that was dry embossing on your white card & was wondering how you did it! I wish my stenciling was so 'clean' and crisp! And I would've splashed....but I'm a big fan of gesso covering up all sins. And black if they're particularly big ones, LOL!!! My favest bit is the little DENIM FLOWERS...they are, as Mitra would say, THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis layout is perfection! Like Lizzy I have to look really hard at the stencilling I also thought it was dry embossed. I love it. The perfect background for you layout. Just gorgeous papers that really show off that lovely photo of your man. Congratulations on your anniversary this month... I love your take on the sketch. It was my fave in the lineup. I think you nailed it. That sketch is stunning and I have to do a layout so I reckon I will give it a go :D
ReplyDeleteWow Helen! What a great photo of your handsome husband! Love all the shades of blue and the denim flowers!
ReplyDeleteThis is so perfect, I love the texture in the background and your amazing layers!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this page! So perfect for your hubby! ;-) Love the gorgeous and clean styling and glad you left that background alone! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt sure does happen that one takes it that little bit too far and then you don't quite liked the result...its always a struggle to know when to "just leave". But you judged it perfectly and congrats on your upcoming anniversary! xx
Oh my gosh Helen! What a handsome beau you've captured! I'm sure you have stolen his heart as well. Happy anniversary to you two. I just love this gorgeous page. <3 Hugs, Autumn
