Stuck?! Sketches! DT post 15th June 2917 - Love

Welcome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

I hope you will feel inspired to join in and be eligible for one of the lovely prizes.

Purple is not one of my favourite colours to scrap with, but when faced with a purple outfit, what's a gal to do?  It does seem to be the logical choice!  The papers are from Maja.

I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe, to create the heart shape and played
with various Tim Holtz Oxide inks to achieve the mottled look,
trying to reflect the various colours of the dress.
The flair is from Studio Fourteen40
I used texture paste through a Tim Holtz stencil to create the roses.
The embellishment on the heart, is one of a pair of silk ear rings I wore in the 80's.
The pale green flowers are from Prima and the rhinestones are from Francheville.
I hand stitched around the heart with DMC thread.
The love title, CB6117, the pieces of circle mesh chipboard CB130 and the butterfly CB6117 are all from Scrapmmatts.

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

The quote on the page says "Start each day with a grateful heart" and when I make a conscious effort to do that, everything else falls into place. We've been together for so long, that it would be easy to take each other for granted; to let the little niggles of daily life rub away at the positive traits of the other and transform them into pinpricks of friction.
However, when I look through the prism of gratitude, most of life's  concerns fade away. We've enjoyed wonderful times of transforming joy and endured hideous times of grief and loss.  We are stronger as a couple than we are as individuals; welded together by the storms of life and stronger because of our broken places. Now, in the Autumn of our lives, we rue our aching joints and lack of stamina, but we find joy in the smallest things; a Child's crazy joke, a Baby's smile, a brisk breeze to dry the washing, a Kookaburra singing in our tree.   We have some one to love, something to eat and a reason to get up in the morning.  We are truly blessed. Scrapmatts June creating - Once upon a time and Cool Kid

Hello and welcome back to my blog.
I have two pages to share with you today.

I had the pleasure of the company of our Grandsons over the school holidays
and am now lucky enough to have a few new photos to scrap.

First up is one of the six year olds dressed in his King's cape.
Still on my stash busting strategy, I used one of my favourite collections from
Simple Stories - "Say Cheese."
This CHIPBOARD TITLE seemed perfect for dress up play - I left it raw.
I cut into the STICKS and scattered them around under the photos.
The DELIGHT title is from a word pack.

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads.

You came to visit on your own one day and asked if I'd be able to make you a cape.
"Hmmm - possibly - What sort of a cape?"
"Well the kind that an important King would wear"
"OK - what colour capes do Kings wear these days"
"I think a bright red"
"Well I don't have any red fabric"
"How about in your scrap room Granny?"
"No - not even in my scrap room, would you like to go to Spotlight and look for some?"
"Yes please Granny - could we go right now?"

So off we went, found just the right material, plus some black cord to tie it at the neck.
When you noticed the fabric was rectangular you got a bit concerned,
asking how it was going to end up the right shape.

"We will have to cut it into shape."
"But how will you know how to do that Granny?"
"My Mother taught me how."
"But she's dead isn't she?"
"Yes, she is, but I can still remember what to do."
"Well you must have a good memory, because that was long, long ago in the olden days!"

So we cut it out, you helped me pins the hems, we threaded the cord through
and you were pretty chuffed with the finished garment.

Do you remember what happened next? You asked me,
"Granny, do you know how to make a gold crown?"
"Yes, I think so"
So we quickly made one and you went home with a Gold crown decorated with bling.

The next layout is combined with the CSI challenge 231
which Scrapmatts is generously sponsoring.

The idea is to use all the colours, at least three of the evidence clues
and at least one of the testimony clues.

Evidence :- White background, Stripes, Animals, Twine, Stars, Hearts, Puffy stickers.
Testimony:-  I chose to write about this Boy's super power which is his incredible memory for facts, figures and details about his current passions, which are Football and Cricket.

I used some older scraps again. The red plane paper is from Echo Park, "Game Plan"

The background was given the star treatment by adding texture paste
through  STENCIL STARS and splashing some Oxide paint on top.

The blue and turquoise clouds are from Jillibean Soup, "Chit chat chowder"
The fabric heart is from Charms Creations.
The little yellow dog and word stickers are by Crate Paper, "Cool kid"
I heat embossed the STRING CIRCLES

I'm a big fan of the ALPHABET FLAGS, I think they look great on a Boy's page.

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

You are never a big fan of having your photo taken, like Pa, you find it hard to relax and act naturally when the lens is pointed at you.   I took a lot of photos and when we looked at them together, neither of us liked what we saw.   When I asked if we could try again, you reluctantly agreed and I distracted you talking about Richmond, your beloved Football team and a couple of your heros, Jack Riewoldt and Dustin Martin.  You became quite animated and I captured your lovely smile.  You are fascinated by Footy and Cricket at the moment and have a phenomenal memory for the details of the game; who is playing whom, how much each team wins by and where they are on the ladder.

Stuck?! Sketches June 1st 2017 - DT layout - Beautiful You

Welcome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

I hope you will feel inspired to join in and be eligible for one of the lovely prizes.
"The scrumptious papers I used are  from Cocoa Vanilla,
"Wild at Heart, collection "Grow Wild"
I added a Kaisercraft card stock border in soft pink - "Ballet"
The butterflies were fussy cut from the Cocoa Vanilla range too, "Mariposa"
The flowers are from the die cut ephemera.
The Guipure lace flowers are from Prima, they have been in my stash for a while.
The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

On this day, you had pulled all the soft toys out to inspect them and see which ones might be suitable for your new little cousin who was expected after Christmas.
You put aside two in particular, that you thought she might like.  The dog you are holding makes a "panting" noise and your second choice was the butterfly, which  jingles and rustles.  You are delighted that you are going to be her big girl cousin and you plan on teaching her the rules around Granny's home.  Most importantly she's not to go into the Scrap room without Granny, because there's too many precious things in there.
You are going to explain to her that her that:-
"Eyes are for looking with - not fingers!"
