Kraft+ June Challenge - Create

Hello again Scrappy Friends, welcome to June where today I'm sharing a post for Kraft+

The challenge is to use just ONE colour on Kraft.  Black, white and neutrals as accents are OK, and different shades of the one colour are fine too.

My absolute favourite colour is blue and I loved the chance to scrap an older photo using one of my other favourite things; Maja papers.
Do you have a favourite colour? Or one that you are not too keen on, but would like to challenge yourself with?
Come, join us and be in the running for one of the fabulous prizes
from our generous sponsors.
The Maja range is called "Summertime" and it reminds me of a dress I wore as a teenager which was covered in blue roses. I felt very special in that dress.
I fussy cut a lot of the roses and clustered them with Prima lace flowers and a few crystals.  The title word is by Scrapmatts.  The tags were cut with Paper Rose dies.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
I love reading your comments and they are greatly appreciated.

Stuck?! Sketches 15th May 2017 Challenge - Beautiful

Welome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for
I hope you will feel inspired to join in and be eligible for one of the lovely prizes.
The background paper is from the Kaisercraft Wildflower collection, "Floral" embossed.
I used various shades of pink, purple and apricot distress inks to reveal the flowers.
The small pieces of paper are scraps from Crate Paper, Prima and Kaisercraft.
Some are quite old, but they all played nicely together.
The metal embellishment is from Prima Vintage trinket.
I wiped a bit of Olive coloured Viva, precious metal paint over it to tone down the shine.
The doily is a die cut by Prima - one of my all time favourites.
The vellum flowers were in a forlorn little neglected bundle in my room.
They looked so sad that I spruced them up with a bit of orange distress ink
and gave them a job to do. They were happy to be liberated!

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads.
These three beautiful woman are my daughter's in law.  We are blessed that all of our Sons found their soulmate and each of the couples planned a family together.
Our Grandchildren are supremely lucky to be Mothered by their warmth, wisdom,
patience and good humour. I feel honoured to be included in their lives and trusted to nurture their children.  My cup overflows with love for them all.

Kraft+ Design Team for May - Always in my heart

Hello again Scrappy Friends, welcome to Kraft+ in May,
where I'm sharing a post using a different shaped photo.
The challenge is NOT to use square or rectangular photos.
Interested?  Click here to see what the rest of the team have created to inspire you.

When I was sifting through my photos for ideas, I came across the photo of my dear Mother, Mary.  I wondered what shape would reflect her personality and a diamond came instantly into my mind. With Mother's Day just around the corner, I reflected on my random good fortune to have Mary as my Mother, Teacher, Mentor and Friend.
First I thought I'd add random diamond shapes, but the page evolved with a mind of it's own and I managed to created a floral M, but cutting away the Kraft and inserting floral paper underneath.  Pretty excited with the way it turned out.
The floral stamp is from Unity Stamp - Summertime Bouquet.
The little flourish is an older Rhona Farrer stamp.
I added a few little blooms and the little metal heart from my stash.
I stitched around the edge of the page, a nod to my Mother's expert sewing skills.
The thank you stamp is from Stamping' Up and I coloured the stamped
and embossed flowers with gelatos.

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

Mary, my darling Mother was born during the first world war.  She grew up on a farm and left school after obtaining her Q.C.   Years ago, most girls were encouraged to leave school after Grade seven (Qualifying Certificate).  Education was for Boys, as Girls would eventually marry and stay at home to raise a family!  Mum didn't have a choice but to stay on the farm to help her Parents. She cooked, cleaned, washed and Mothered her seven younger siblings; a daily drudgery for which she received little thanks.   Her dream was to become a teacher, but that choice was denied her by the societal norms of the time.  Her Mother taught her to cook, knit, crochet and tat.   She had her own garden and raised poultry to sell.  Later, after she married and long before computers and You Tube, she taught herself to sew ball gowns, to smock, create hats, weave baskets and decorate cakes to supplement our meagre income.  She was a kind and patient Mother who encouraged us to make the most of our education.  Supremely competent at all she attempted, she was calm and stoic when adversity struck;  she just got on with it, no matter what chaos was happening around her.  Like a diamond, she was multi faceted, strong, wise and generous to a fault.  She also had a great sense of humour, a sparkle in her eye, a love of Irish music and dance. Her empathy for the underdog meant she was forever helping lame dogs over stiles.  My words don't do her justice really, but I am forever grateful that she was my Mother, a constant source of unconditional love right throughout her long life.  Journalling, on her Birthday, 28th April.

I enjoy reading your comments and appreciate you leaving them.  Thank you.

Stuck?! Sketches 1st May Challenge - Unique

Welome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

I hope you will feel inspired to join in and be eligible for one of the lovely prizes.
The paper range is mostly all from Kaisercraft, Indigo Skies Collection.

 I was delighted to find the little heart button in my stash.  The beads are from a previous project;
I just scattered them along the stitched circle.
The Making Memories alphas are shimmery IRL
and work well with the sequins on the "Veil"
So happy to used them, as they are dated 2008!
The fabric star is from Charms Creations, one of our frequent sponsors.
Our girl is crazy about cats, so I popped on a wooden embellie to keep her company.
The delicious pink floral paper is by Cocoa Vanilla, the Wild at Heart collection.
Yay! I finally got my hands on some and even though this layout was finished,
I had to cut into a piece immediately.   I'm sure you understand!

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads.

These photos were taken on one of the last full days we enjoyed together.  We had been to the toy library, where you pounced on this black sequinned skirt and brought it home for dress ups.  You immediately decided it made a much better veil than a skirt and asked for some photos to be taken.  Without any direction from me, you assumed all sorts of different poses and angles, saying, "Just because it's a skirt, it doesn't mean it can't be anything else does it Granny?"  "Absolutely not" - I agreed.  So, you ate lunch in it, danced in it, reluctantly took it off for your bath and asked longingly if you could take it home with you.  You were quite happy to leave it here though, when you heard that it would be waiting for you next week when you came.
